The Bluetti from MaxOak is part of their new generation of portable solar power stations.  It has been designed as a competitor to the Inergy Kodiak Solar generator (now called the Inergy Apex) and the Goal Zero Yeti Solar Generators.  The Bluetti is a fantastic option for any van life enthusiast or person who spends long periods of time in a mobile living situation like an RV, Skoolie or boat.

The regulated DC outlet on the Bluetti will keep the voltage constant which means it can handle and run 12V appliances such as a Dometic fridge.  It boasts top of the line lithium-ion battery cells from LG, so you'll be able to comfortably run all your power needs off of the 1500wH battery.  

Weighing in at 37.9 lbs, the Bluetti solar generator is super portable for its battery size.  The only portable solar generator that is close in terms of battery size would be the Goal Zero Yeti 1400 which comes in at 43.7 lbs with 100wH less battery storage.  The Bluetti also has one of the fastest AC wall chargers on the market as it can input an impressive 170 watts into the power station.  In comparison, the Goal Zero yeti AC charger inputs 80 watts.

The Bluetti also boasts a 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter and an MPPT solar charge controller with a max input of 60 volts. That is significantly more than the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator or any of the Goal Zero Yeti's.   

The Bluetti also comes pre-installed with low temperature protection as well as high temperature protection for its lithium battery cells which is quite unique amongst portable solar generators.  This means that in extreme climates the Bluetti will automatically protect its battery so you cant damage it.  The LCD screen gives you all the important information about your generator including how many watts are going in & how many are going out for both the AC and DC power.   

How to recharge your Bluetti Solar Generator:

The recommended solar input for the Bluetti is 400 watts at 12 Volts.  This will fully recharge your unit in around 3.5-4 hours of ideal sunlight.  Though the Bluetti is rated for 500 watts, its hard to get that exactly right and you can risk damaging the unit if you input too high a voltage or amperage.
